Artificial intelligence for health

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer. If neglected, skin cancers can cause significant morbidity and even death. Treated early enough, melanoma is one of the cancers with the best five-year survival rate. The cure rate is very high when melanoma is detected in early stages, when it can easily be removed surgically.

Artificial intelligence algorithms applied to image processing are a valuable tool. However, these algorithms are not a substitute for a clinician, and they will never make a diagnosis outside the control of a dermatologist.
They can extract characteristics of an image, and reproduce the results they learned from a training database composed of images and skin cancer diagnosis. The algorithm can then estimate the risk from a photo.
Our aim is to estimate the risk automatically and encourage taking an appointment with a dermatologist if there is a risk.
